As anticipated from Monday's teaser 2K Games and developer Turtle Rock have released the first videos promoting Evolve, the first new game from the Left 4 Dead creators since their departure from Valve.

The first video is the obligatory cinematic trailer, but it seems to be made largely from in-game assets, introducing the game's four character classes and their giant monster predator foe. The backing song is a cover of Danzig's classic Mother, performed by the artist Lissie.

There's also a first look gameplay footage clip, offering some gameplay from both the hunter and monster points of view and a raft of developer commentary.

The video releases accompany a press embargo lift today, so you can find out our impressions of the game in this hands-on preview, and stay tuned for our developer interview with Turtle Rock.

I will never understand why publishers are so averse to letting people just watch some bloody gameplay... this talking head s*** doesn't do it for me at all.

yeh those trailers didn't sell it to me, I was hoping it would. I love left 4 dead so much and cant help but compare the two and dont see this working with the 1v4. The beauty of L4D was not just the gameplay but the ability to drop in and drop out. With this I think it will be a game killer, what happens when the monster disconnects? Rage quits? or nobody wants to be the monster?
