Another videogame Kickstarter pledge drive worth taking a look at went live over the weekend, pitching Eternal Fate, a hopeful Action RPG game that wants incorporate some of the successful elements of first person shooters into the genre.
The pitch video introduces the co-founders of Texas-based Escalation Studios: Tom Mustaine (who old school PC folk might remember as one of the founders of Ritual Entertainment) and Marc Tardif (Executive Producer of Borderlands during his long tenure at Gearbox). With both developer's history around the genesis of first person shooters, their aim is to bring some of the mechanics that popularised multiplayer FPS games into the Action RPG space, much like Borderlands brought ARPG elements into the FPS world.
We think we're onto something with Eternal Fate. Anyone who is a fan of action RPG games has surely thought about what it would be like to join forces with a friend and go up against other human players rather than swarms of AI demons. Mindless grinding can be fun, but sometimes we need the challenge that only other real players can deliver.
The Kickstarter project page explains that the game has been in development for about a year so far, and a demo of the game was reportedly playable to public attendees at the QuakeCon 2012 event in Dallas over the weekend.
Check out the pitch video below (
HD page here) for a good idea on what the game is about and a look at the game in action, and head over to
the Kickstarter page if you feel like contributing.

The name dropping is rather... annoying. Left the video on mute and watched, all the logos and crap that pop up are crazy. Doubt this would go well for a kickstarter, appears to be something that should go F2P with a model similar to League of Legends to try gather a player base to milk off.
Seems to be the common way to go now with this style of multiplayer game.
