The most popular movie franchise in the world meets the most popular game in the world. Makes sense. Turns out that Avengers: Infinity War directors Joe and Anthony Russo are big Fortnite fans. Where they would take breaks editing the latest blockbuster with some Fortnite downtime.
Which led them to contacting Epic Games creative director Donald Mustard to see if there could be some sort of Fortnite-Avengers crossover event.
“And after a bit of geeking out over each other’s work, we start brainstorming these crazy ideas,” Mustard says on receiving an out of the blue call from one of the co-directors on the new Avengers film. “It was really important that whatever we did, it had to be super authentic to both Fortnite and the Avengers: Infinity War, and something that fans of both would be excited about. About an hour later, we had the bones of this awesome idea for a limited time gameplay mode, and almost immediately our team got started.”
The “Infinity Gauntlet” mode for Fortnite goes live tomorrow and is a limited time event where everything will seem normal except for one thing. The Infinity Gauntlet will be in play and the lucky player who finds it will tranform into Thanos - wielding all the power that comes with all six Infinity Stones in Power glove form.
