It's not only one of the most critically acclaimed games in years but Elden Ring is also one of the most successful. After a year out in the wild Edlen Ring sales have now surpassed 20 million copies worldwide - making it one of the most popular games of all time. And we've finally got confirmation that the game's first major expansion Shadow of the Erdtree is in development.

But that's pretty much all we know, with the announcement simply confirming that the expansion is currently in development alongside presenting some very cool artwork.

More Elden Ring in any form is exciting, and it's great to see From Software and Bandai Namco calling this an expansion as opposed to DLC. An expansion means something meaty, and there's no doubt this will be huge when it launches - hopefully sometime in 2023.
