With 15,000 tickets going on sale for the June 13 - 15 event next week. But, tickets won't come cheap. Early bird tickets limited to the first 1,000 sold will go for $150 USD, with regular tickets going for $250 USD. High costs aside, its great to see E3 opening its doors to the public for the first time. The traditionally trade, media, and business event has been one of the premiere places for game announcements, reveals, and demos for a number of years now.

The decision to go public may also be a direct result to the current climate of how news and impressions are made available. Last year both EA and Activision, two of the largest third-party publishers opted against large show-floor booths at E3 in favour of their own fan-centric events.

And with Europe's open to the public Gamescom event growing larger every year, and in many ways more impressive, this could also be a move to make E3, for lack of a better term, great again.

Naturally, anyone with a blog, YouTube channel, or website, can still gain free entry.
