And it's certainly a new visual direction for the series. With a look that is a cross between what we saw in the last game and something like DOTA 2, the bright and vibrant visuals take a little getting used to. Especially after the grim and epic cinematic reveal trailer. But visuals aside the combat and animations are all pretty solid, with a lot more units on screen that Dawn of War II.

And in keeping with developer Relic's plans for the series, the game is set to combine the role-playing approach of the last game with the large-scale battles of the original Dawn of War. The footage in this trailer is clearly quite early, with frame-rate issues at several points and very little in terms of terrain variety or much more than a few different cinematic angles of a skirmish between the Space Marines and the Eldar.

Captured from one of the missions in the game, expect to see more Dawn of War III in the coming weeks.

I like that it is going back to DoW 1 scale of battle more. That is a positive IMO. Not sold on visuals, but that can change easily enough over time. Story will be the breaking point for this with me.
