The main event of E3 2012 is now underway, with Nintendo rounding out the pre-show press conferences reavealing their upcoming Wii U and 3DS lineup.

One of the bigger reveals from Nintendo today was New Super Mario Bros U, which as the title suggests is a follow-up to the Wii's classic style platformer for the new upcoming console.
Swoop through levels and cling to walls when Mario transforms into Flying Squirrel Mario, or gently float through the air while hanging onto Tiny Balloon Yoshi.

The Wii U GamePad controller offers a new way to play multiplayer in this game. An extra player can jump into the action using the new Boost mode, creating platforms out of thin air to help others navigate tricky stages or access hidden or hard-to-reach items.

Boost mode also makes cooperative speed runs possible for the first time. Use the GamePad to interact with and manipulate enemies and objects in real time, allowing for new ways to find the fastest routes through each level.

Play on the big screen or the small screen. Switch game play from the TV to the GamePad at any time to continue playing even when others are using the TV.
Watch the debut trailer below (or here in our HD library OMG, Nintendo trailers in HD!) for everything you can expect from this one.

What I took from this video:
It looks like a very polished, ready to go game, with nothing particularly interesting that we didn't already see in Yoshi's Story to make it enjoyable.

I dunno, maybe platformers are overdone.

I have a feeling I'll be buying a Wii U, simply because of the tablet functionality and there are going to be some great games like NSMB or Rayman: Legends. Also the idea that Nintendo may be moving closer to more third party titles now then they previously had, which is really great. If the developers become more comfortable with porting over games, they'll be happy to make new titles.
