One of the major third party titles launching with the Wii U this holiday season was revealed at Nintendo's E3 press conference this morning, with Rocksteady Studios announcing a tailored version of their acclaimed Batman: Arkham City, subtitled Armored Edition.
Batman: Arkham City is based on DC Comics' core Batman license and is set in Arkham City, the new maximum security "home" for all of Gotham City's thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds. Featuring an incredible Rogues Gallery of Gotham City's most dangerous criminals including Catwoman, The Joker, The Riddler, Two-Face, Harley Quinn, The Penguin, Mr. Freeze and many others, the game allows players to genuinely experience what it feels like to be The Dark Knight delivering justice on the streets of Gotham City.
The armored edition name refers to the new "upgraded battle suit" that introduces a new game-mechanic whereby players accumulate energy during combat to use for special attacks and sensing.

Watch the trailer below (or here for the HD option) for a complete run down on the various new features in-store specifically for the Wii U version.

Whilst that trailer was a bit over the top the way they integrate the controller should become a standard for all wii u games.

Yeah those controller functions sound really interesting, definitely a purchase from me. I may also be a big Batman fan as well.

Any word on PhysX support on the WiiU for games that utilise it... like batman?

Really? I thought the way they used the controller was pretty dull and uninspired and at times, bordering on annoyingly gimmicky. Using the touch screen to detonate the explosive gels looked far more awkward than doing it with a controller, despite their insistence it was better. And I don't want to have to hold the controller up to the screen and wave it around to scan things, thats just stupid gimmicky s*** thats better suited to a normal control method in the first place, same with guiding the remote controlled batarangs.

I was excited during the press conference when they announced a special version of Arkham City, I was thinking to myself "If they've added some significantly cool stuff to this, I'll probably buy it", but all it looks like they've done is made it worse. Was expecting much more from the Wii-U, so far pretty disappointed.

I agree with Khel. It reminded me of watching my parents play video games and when you tell them to 'press the X button' they stop for a moment and awkwardly look at the control to find the button, all the while not paying attention to the main action.

Pretty much everything in the Batman game play video you could do just as well or easier with a standard controller.

Khel, I agree with most of what you said, I was referring more to the menu being on the touch screen, and the map and a few other things like that.

It reminds me of Crystal Chronicles on the game cube with the Gameboy Advance link up... that s*** was boss.

I expected something more like that when I saw the wii u, but sadly they are tring to make the controller more interactive when really they should be taking a step back from it being interactive and more as a useful tool.

I'm with Khel on this 100%. Very uninspired use of the controller imo, it is exactly what I expected they would do with it.
