You may have already seen the reveal trailer right here on AusGamers, but we've also got a bit of the skinny on CD Projekt RED's decision to launch The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings to the console realm, in what appears to either be a timed Xbox 360 exclusive or a straight exclusive to Microsoft's console, with no mention from the team about anything to with the PS3, nor even a whisper at the potential of Nintendo's forthcoming console to be revealed at E3.
The planned release date slated for Q4 2011. The Xbox 360 version will be an enhanced adaptation of the PC game released to instant international acclaim in mid-May. Accordingly, it will incorporate numerous improvements and enhancements. Details will be announced over the coming months.
The team are being adamant that this will not be a straight port and are already utilising critical feedback from the PC release for the 360, and here's hoping any and all changes also make it into the PC version by way of patches and the like.
"We’re very proud of The Witcher 2 and the highly positive reactions it has received from both our players and the media," said John Mamais, Executive Producer out CD Projekt via
press release. "Taking it to the Xbox 360 represents an exciting opportunity to introduce it to a new segment of the gaming audience. I’d like to stress that we are doing a full adaptation to the new platform, not just a straight port. Technology-wise, this means we are aiming to push its limits in order to get visual quality as close to high-end PCs as possible – and during E3, you’ll see how good the results we’ve already achieved are."
We're on the ground here in LA for the event, so stay tuned for our impressions against the statements above.

The game already supports Xbox 360 controllers. You plug one in and all of the button prompts on screen change to 360 buttons. Plays perfectly with the gamepad as well, so there's no reason why the game would be any worse off on a console.
Stop being such PC elitists. You're not special, you're just a d*** limiting yourself to a single platform.

I own all the current consoles and a PC. Some games are cool on PC, and some are cool on consoles.
I just want companys to stop making them for both by porting. If a company makes a game for PC, THEN redoes it for console then cool.
P.S you are a hypocrite if you call people a d***, as you are one of the biggest a*******s ausgamers has to offer.

HUH! it would of made an easy port, the context menu and button play during fisty fights was a sign they were heading in this direction well before the announcement.
Take note kids, when media folks so s*** like "enhanced" what they really mean is they have changed the little button icons to reflect that of the system its going to be on.
