We've been running across rooftops avoiding the lurching undead of the decimated city of Harran for the past week or so, and feel that Techland's new IP deserves a place in everyone's unbeating, dead gaming hearts.

It's a polarising game. I know Joaby likely won't agree with even half of what I've written in my review, but that's the nature of this sort of system. Dying Light has been a revelation for me -- showcasing a maturity in design across many fronts for Techland, specifically in narrative, level-design and character progression.

It's also just a heck of a lot of fun. There's room for improvement in areas, but as a new IP, and as a studio busting their collective cajones to play with the big boys, Dying Light is a fantastic start to what I hope is not a a dead future.

Excellent review Steve, I too am thoroughly enjoying this game on PC. I loved Dead Island and this takes it all to a new level. Great game.

sadly disagree with this. Enjoyed dead island and riptide, but I just couldn't love dying light. The parkour was ok, didn't feel the same as fluid as Mirrors edge. The story is dreadful and the graphics are average with huge filters thrown on. Also the game is poorly optimized and I had to use mods to get it running on more than 1 core.

fryzee, did you endure and upgrade your agility stuff? I found following the deliberate lines and paths around the place was a good way to learn to time the jumps and grabs better. I honestly didn't really have any issues with the parkour though.

On Xbox One and PS4 the visuals are pretty sweet, apparently a new patch for PC has optimised desktop visuals as well

Yeh steve I went through maxed out agility tree, don't get me wrong I don't hate it, I just wasn't in love with it, the hook shot is cool but mirrors edge felt... faster? no real issue just not "fluid".

I'll suss out the patch.

I want a zombie survival game with multiplayer, but not dayz style. More like a sort of peer to peer networking thing like how the new CoD's work, but saves your game state so you can play ONLY with friends, but pick up where you left off at a later date.

Really... they are far from average, the game looks great on PC. Also the core issue with the cpu was fixed within 3 days.

I can't believe anyone can play this game without becoming violently ill from unexplained motion sickness.

I hated it, to be honest. It runs great on my pc (a hard crash or two don't phase me) but the gameplay is so tedious. The parkour is great, but everything around it is just cringe inducingly bad. S***** combat, terrible quests (all of them fetch quests), progression trees that ruin the game, weapon degradation bs, meh.

Yeah, this game rocks.

You gotta invest time to get the levels so you can become a spiderman parkour god. Get a friend and the game is twice as fun. Do everything at night too. That's the real challenge.

Just say, hypothetically, you had no friends. Could you still enjoy this game?

Joab, I share your opinion in regards to the fluff around it, but hot damn is it not the best parkour simulator right now. MIrror's Edge is a great one, no doubt about it, but Dying Light just seems to offer a more fluid path to jumping over buildings and chaining fluid actions.

Also there is no better satisfaction then jumping off a building and ground pounding a zombie. Soooo good. Oh and infi, no need for friends as the Be the Zombie allows you to invade anyone's public game, which is a lot of fun.

been giving this a good bash and it's real fun. kinda like a cross between dead island and STALKER. the parkour definitely makes it more and the graphics are de-lish.
