Via another "very special message" video -- that last time brought us a one month delay -- 2K Games and Gearbox Software have announced that "First Access Club" members will be able to download the Duke Nukem Forever Demo on June 3rd 2011, one week ahead of the June 10th international release of the full game.

First Access Club membership is available via a redeem key that is obtained when either pre-ordering Duke Nukem Forever or purchasing Borderlands Game of the Year Edition from participating retailers, which according to this page is only EB Games in Australian and NZ.

There's no word on when players without a First Access key will be able to play the demo, but the obvious assumption would be on June 10th -- the full game's release day.

I remember the days when demo's used to be a taste tester to see wether or not you would want to buy the full product. Not an early teaser for those who already bought it...

Yeah Lewk, thats what they use to be. Then games companies realised people were working out their games were s*** and bagging them out before launch day. So all the people who didn't play demo's heard how s*** the game was and didn't rush out to buy it on day 1.

Back in the days of Print media, this was ok. But with everyone being able to voice their opinion to such a large audience so easily these days, it would be costing them too much.

Sucks. But these are the times we live in.
