Those well versed in the history of the RPG genre will know that, when it comes to popularity, the Dragon Quest series reigns supreme in Japan. And unlike the Final Fantasy series has remained traditionally tied to Nintendo consoles. Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age has just launched there for the Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation 4, with Bandai Namco announcing that localisation efforts are now underway.
An expected release window of 2018 has been set, with Dragon Quest series creator Yuji Horii making the announcement.
With this we should expect to see a Nintendo 3DS and PlayStation 4 release, plus hopefully the currently in the works Nintendo Switch version.
