For those of you in need of some light games over the Christmas break, Shacknews is reporting that Double Fine's Kinect Party, the sequel to Happy Action Theatre, is coming to Xbox next week. The good news is that the game will actually be free on launch through to December 31st, a somewhat hopeful jab at Microsoft wanting you to use your Kinect for Christmas parties.

Major Nelson has the upcoming Xbox Live Marketplace report revealing the free period, however oddly there is no listing on what the price will be for Kinect Party after the free launch, but being a sequel to Happy Action Theatre it will probably be around $10.

Kinect Party will be available from 18th December and you can check out the launch trailer below which showcases just what you'll be able to do.

Will customers that get it when it's free have to pay when it's back to its original price?
