Bethesda isn't quite ready to show us the long in development Doom 4 (now titled just DOOM) at E3 2014 this year, but it has just released the game's first teaser trailer, promising a ful reveal at this year's Quakecon, the annual LAN gaming event to be held in Dallas, TX, from July 17 2014.
There's no word whether it's in-engine footage -- and that doesn't seem outside the realm of possibility for id software technology -- but either way, it's still well and truly cinematic teaser footage, featuring an ominous voiceover, and what appears to be a Hell Knight or Baron of Hell monster from the classic shooter franchise. Check it out below.
That is actually pretty cool. But I remain uninterested in this game and that won't change unless they lead with multiplayer information about this game to show that it's an MP game first and foremost in the classic id style, and not some glommed-together single player story. So much potential here to recapture the days of old.
The sound of the "Doom" door has got to be the most iconic sound in all gaming.
Trog I unfortunately believe that DOOM will not be multiplayer focused and consider prioritising DOOM over Quake 5 (which should be multiplayer focused) a mistake.
