The upcoming DOOM is getting a multiplayer Open Beta that will run from April 15-17 on all platforms. Like the recent closed beta players will get access to two maps and two modes, which only makes up a small portion of the full offering when the game launches on May 13. So consider it a small taste of things to come. And speaking of things to come, Bethesda has revealed its plans for post-release DOOM content, including free updates and three premium multiplayer DLC packs.
In addition to the planned free support and content updates, we will also be releasing three premium multiplayer DLC packs after launch, which will get you a number of new maps, hack modules, playable demons, weapons and more. The first DLC will be available this summer and give you access to:
- Three new maps
- One new weapon
- One new playable demon
- One new armor set
- One new piece of equipment
- New hack modules and taunts
- New customization colors and patterns
Each DLC pack will cost $14.99 USD, or you can get them all at a discount with the Season Pass for $39.99 USD.
Which, is kind of expected. But as it stands not the biggest draw to the multiplayer aspect of DOOM. That would be the free SnapMap component that will allow players to create their own maps and share them via an easy to use interface. One that is expected to get post-release support via free updates that will add new features and functionality.
