Popular sci-fi TV show Doctor Who will soon be time travelling through his Tardis onto the game screen of Minecraft for Xbox 360, Microsoft and BBC announced today.

Starting in September, Doctor Who-themed DLC packs will be arriving onto the Minecraft universe, thanks to a deal struck between Microsoft and the BBC that will allow players to dress as key characters. According to the BBC blog post, the first pack will cost a measly $2.99 and will feature a twelfth doctor look-alike, five other doctors and their companions, and several key Doctor Who adversaries including the infamous Daleks.

More packs featuring Doctor Who content will be released later on to coincide with the broadcasting of episodes in the latest series and will each contain six different doctors and characters spanning the 50-year history of Doctor Who.

“We’re constantly looking for new and innovative ways to bring Doctor Who content to our loyal fans. Working collaboratively with Microsoft, we’ve created an exciting new product which will allow Doctor Who fans to create their own brand new adventures in the heart of the iconic world of Minecraft.”
