DICE has today released some tantalising news about the next DLC for the destruction heavy FPS, Battlefield 3. Titled Aftermath, the new DLC will feature four new maps, each one designed around post-earthquake ridden villages.
et amongst the shattered districts, streets and surrounding villages of a post-earthquake Tehran Battlefield 3: Aftermath depicts a continuing struggle for supremacy and survival amongst the devastation.

With operational capacity severely compromised the opposing forces must adapt and engage in vertical and horizontal urban combat amongst the dust and rubble with cracks and fissures in the terrain providing unexpected cover and paths to objectives. Additional support comes in the form of heavily modified troop transports and civilian vehicles specially adapted to deliver deadly force to the enemy.
Sticking with the theme of not just maps but new heavily modified military and civilian vehicles, the DLC will also include a new game mode and of course new achievements, assignments and dog tags.

No release date has been given yet, but you can check out the sole screenshot below that gives you a concept idea of just what to expect in Aftermath.

3/4 of the fun of battlefield 3 is blowing chunks out of the side of buildings, this, not so fun

I want to give DICE the benefit of the doubt, however they have lost that.

This has the potential to be something else in the long line of BF3 decisions which isn't really what people want and DICE should be ashamed for.

It could be great. Provided the maps aren't too small, and that they aren't corridor maps.

We're yet to even see a great city map in BF3. If they want an earth quake ravaged one. They shouldn't use that as an excuse to make it smaller. They also need to focus on more access to buildings and dynamic game play. instead of City maps like Seine River which is essentially a city themed corridor map. Needs some open world elements in the destruction and through the buildings.
