In addition the latest expansion announcement in the form of Destiny 2: Beyond Light comes word from Bungie that the game is headed to next-gen consoles. Good news is that for players who pick up the expansion for Destiny 2 in September, this content will transfer across to both the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 for free.

For the Xbox Series X update it'll happen automatically via the Smart Delivery service - where Xbox One titles become Series X versions at no extra cost. The PlayStation 5 update will arrive for free too - for those that purchase Destiny 2: Beyond Light on PS4.

Outside of the above very welcome news no word on specific enhancements or visual upgrades have been announced, with Bungie planning to reveal more on that front in the coming months. At the very least having Destiny 2 take advantage of the fast SSD storage of both consoles and the increased hardware grunt will ensure it runs faster and loads a lot quicker at a minimum.

Also it's confirmation that Destiny 2 isn't going anywhere anytime soon - with Bungie teasing additional expansions Destiny 2: The Witch Queen and Destiny 2: Lightfall for 2021 and 2022.
