Dead Island Sells Big

IndustryGamers reports that the zombie shooter Dead Island has been a big success for publisher Deep Silver, well on the way to two million sales:

Deep Silver also noted that Dead Island "has held the #1 chart position in many global markets including the UK and France as well as on Steam, and will have sold 2 million units globally to retailers by the end of this week."

“We’re thrilled at the retail reception Dead Island has achieved in its first few days,” said Geoff Mulligan, Chief Operating Officer at Deep Silver, “The critical ‘first week’ of game sales has been an enormous sales success for Deep Silver. We’re working quickly with our distribution partner in North America, Square Enix, to restock shelves as quickly as we can.”

The game has clearly been a bit of a hit here in Australia - there's a lot of community buzz accompanying our review, which scored a very respectable 8.1.

If all goes to plan we'll have a couple of copies of the game to give out to our forum community, Facebook fans, and Twitter followers in the next couple of days, so if you're busting for the game and haven't snagged it yet, stay tuned.

Im hoping they do ALLOT more DLC for new sections of the island/characters to play/weapons cause its a damn fun game and finally we get more accents than just American

Eagerly awaiting the release of the Arena DLC :D

Same, once it got going a bit it really sucked me in, even with its flaws its still a pretty fun game. Someone in the other thread likened it to Fallout 3 with zombies, thats pretty much how it feels for me too, not so much the RPG aspects but the exploration and the looting and crafting of random crap and just wandering around the game world finding s*** to do is a lot like how I played Fallout 3.

I was wondering how this game has gotten past the classification board when they raped L4D2 with the zombies fading before they hit the ground and here you can hack off limbs when they are dead? Not complaining about it, just wondering how they let it slip past.

I'm actually pretty sure some of them get referred to as infected in this game. also from the little newspapers and s*** I've been picking up it seems like it has something to do with cannabalism (sp?)

Yeah, they're infected humans in this too, so its a pretty prime example of how the classification system falls down. I'd say the violence in Dead Island is worse than L4D2 was as well, especially since most of it is done up close and personal with melee weapons.

Just a heads up. I purchased a key from this site, and the one they gave me was already activated by someone else. It seems their website is down now as well.

Found all of the dev plans which make unique weapons. Only made 2 so far, Plaguebearer military knife and fist of glova. Knife has a 100% crit rate and causes lv 1 poison on every hit. Glova drains all your stamina in 1 hit and is a small cone AoE attack which is like a force push + electrifies the enemy. Works for special infected too so makes for very easy kills.

I've been shamelessly doing that duping thing that was posted in the other thread so I don't have to worry about money so much, cos man those workbenches love to suck up the money, especially when you're repairing or upgrading a higher quality weapon.

Yeah, same, if anything the constant worrying about money and worrying about using my best weapons cos I couldn't afford to repair them was hampering my enjoyment. So now I'm enjoying it even more :)

Are you sure you VPN'd properly? What was the error message?

Also their site is working fine. Been buying from these guys for a while without incident ...

I saw a $98,000 assault rifle in a shop guy this morning. Lv 27 single shot assault rifle. I would of duped up the money for it but only had 200 damage on it when my pistol has 400.

Yeah but an assault rifle is shooting at a faster rate, and the dps would be much higher.

I've no need for guns after creating this bad boy.

Mindblowing Military Knife - instant kill on hit. Since I play logan and his throws do AoE damage, this = win.

Here's me showing off 2 of the unique weapons you make through dev blueprints. You get these for finding, and placing skulls in the right locations

It was definitely already already claimed by someone else, the error was something like "Duplicate Code, This product has already been activated on another steam account".

It's all sorted now, I emailed them back with a screenshot of the error and they emailed back with a new key and a "sorry about that". Just an accident I guess.
