Sony Online Entertainment has revealed that their free-to-play MMO DC Universe Online will utilise shared servers for both the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 consoles, according to senior creative director Jens Andersen in an interview with
Games Beat.
For those currently playing DC Universe Online on the PlayStation 3, come the launch of the PlayStation 4 will be given the opportunity to transfer their existing account across to the next-gen console. According to Andersen, "everything transfers when you log into your account on the new console." With the ability to play together, Andersen believes that "people won't have to make the tough choice to keep their PS3 plugged in just to keep playing DC Universe Online."
A patch is being planned for November 11th that will prepare the game for the PlayStation 4 launch. SOE revealed that all PlayStation 3 assets will have been upgraded come the launch, with a noticeable difference in the way the game presents itself. Update 31 will also be bringing a whopping 2,000 changes, a large result thanks to three years of community feedback collecting.
Currently DC Universe Online is available for free on PC and PlayStation 3, with the PlayStation 4 gaining access come November 29th. For more on the game hit up their
