Although what we see here is still pre-alpha and subject to change, it's clear that Dawn of War III will be more cartoon-like and colourful than the first two games. Well, visually. In terms of the game itself this is the best look so far at the blend of hero mechanics from Dawn of War II with large scale unit production from the original Dawn of War. It's different enough that player feedback so far has been mixed, but it certainly looked interesting.

With Relic at the helm, it's probably safe to assume that it'll all come together in the end. After all, we're talking about the studio behind the excellent Company of Heroes series. At a glance, the new cover mechanic, where little bubbles of cover need to be captured and controlled, looks like a more simplified version of the environmental cover system pioneered by Company of Heroes and Dawn of War II. Again it's different, and will probably give the game a very different feel to other entries in the series. Which hopefully, ends up being a good thing.
