David Fincher is Producing Halo 4's Launch Trailer

Presumably because the Forward Unto Dawn live action shorts hadn't devoured quite enough of the game's massive marketing budget, Microsoft and 343 Industries have announced that acclaimed movie director David Fincher (Fight Club, Seven, The Social Network) will be producing the game's live action launch trailer, to be directed by visual effects veteran Tim Miller.

Titled “Scanned,” the trailer is an action-packed cinematic production that offers a captivating look at the backstory of Master Chief, and provides a glimpse of the new threat he will encounter in “Halo 4.” Filmed in Prague, “Scanned” continues the franchise’s tradition of expanding the universe through award-winning live-action stories, adding to the lore and anticipation for the next chapter in the landmark franchise that has sold more than 43 million game copies worldwide and generated more than $3 billion in franchise sales.

The two-minute long Scanned trailer is set to debut on US talk show Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on October 18th (PST), and will be added to the Halo Waypoint site and the official Xbox Youtube channel shortly after. A still from the trailer can be seen below.

Halo 4 is due exclusively on Xbox 360, worldwide on November 6th 2012.

David Fincher is a producer for this commercial. The commercial was directed by Visual Effects artist Tim Miller.

Thanks for the clarification, you're right. Microsoft's press release seems to be either carelessly or intentionally deceptively worded. Mentions Fincher's experience as a director, and Miller's as visual effects lead multiple times, then frames their roles on the trailer in a busy single sentence.

Here's what it says word for word:

Regardless, it's still likely to be a rather impressive clip, as far as videogame trailers go.

How else would they introduce him as anything but 'director David Fincher'’ and the third paragraph clearly names him as the executive producer? Maybe just try reading the whole press release?
