Developer From Software has revealed a handful of new screenshots to tantalise your hardcore tastebuds, but also a new nine-minute gameplay video showing off just how difficult the sequel to Dark Souls actually is (I should know, my screen is constantly filled with "You Died").

Thankfully the person behind this video is a bit more skilled unlike myself, allowing viewers to actually see some of the new content that From are hoping to bring to the sequel. Included is a look at some of the new combat changes, new enemies and new weapons in-game.

In related Dark Souls 2 news, publisher Namco Bandai has revealed that actor and comedian Peter Serafinowicz, known best for his role as "Pete" in Shaun of the Dead, will be offering his voice as a new character in Dark Souls 2. Serafinowicz also revealed his true identity as a hardcore gamer, calling Dark Souls 2 "the most engrossing game I've ever played," and "the best game of all time."
Peter will dub a new character named Mild-mannered Pate. Players will encounter this mysterious man during his journey in search of treasure. He may teach players a few tricks of his own in order to survive during their quest. Will they dare to trust this enigmatic character?
Dark Souls 2 will be available on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 come March 13th. A PC release is expected sometime shortly after, with From Software hoping "to release the PC version in the same window."

Can't wait. Haven't heard of that 3 week max being officially stated though, could you provide a link to the source?

now that is some dark souls

most of what they have shown so far, especially early on doesn't feel that much like it - but that was spot on

also the guy playing is clearly new to the game or trying to to die because he was pretty s***

"A PC release is expected sometime shortly after, with From Software stating it won't be any longer than "three weeks" from the console versions"

lets hope it isnt a huge steaming mess like the 1st one that required 3rd party graphics support and was unplayable with a keyboard and mouse

A previous interivew with EuroGamer had game director Yui Tanimura hoping to release it in the same window as the console release: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-09-19-dark-souls-2-out-on-march-14-pc-version-to-follow

Yeah, not seeing 3 weeks anywhere in that interview :( And the interview was back in September.

Don't think I can cancel my console pre-orders yet :(

Sorry about that one Any, had it in my head but mistranslated to three actual weeks, instead of "in the same month hopefully." We'll get it soon enough, though I have a feeling if there was a big enough delay they would have said something already.

I think they're remaining vague for a reason. As per this interview from today they know a release date, but don't want to announce it... Doesn't seem like a good sign...

I want to play the first one but don't want to pay $30 for it when it will no doubt come on sale for less then 10.

3... pc as that's the one I want, then ps3 & 360 to cover bases depending on which is the superior version... damn wanting to get the ce of this game.
I'll only grab the one, will roll the deposits on the others into the one I actually purchase.

I have a feeling PC will probably be the best of the bunch, if like the original it allows mods. Also I presume Durante is getting his coding hands ready for some high-res upgrades.

Oh yeah, I just don't want to wait 6 months to play it. If the delay is significant I'll pick up a console CE version and not have to worry about months of spoilers, then grab the pc version cheap digitally.

wow reading one of those links it seems they haven't even decided if they are going to do a ps4/xbone version

i thought that would be a no brainer these days, especially with a pc version of it it is the same architecture

lucky i didn't plan to hold out for a ps4 version

Of coarse it wouldn't be a problem if console makers weren't such d*******s with backwards compatibility

Pretty sure that there were two big reasons for that:

Firstly, they built it with the thought that it would only be on 360/PS3. I don't know why they didn't keep higher res textures (I would assume that they'd have higher quality ones then compress them down to fit on each console), but hey. Mistakes can be made.

Secondly, Japan isn't big on the PC demographic. I don't think they know much about PC development.

Not apologising for them or anything, just playing devil's advocate. I'm pretty sure I've seen quotes of them saying they're developing with PC in mind, then scaling down to the other consoles, so hopefully we should have a more fully featured PC version. The first certainly sold well enough on PC and built a lot of hype, even through all the negative press.
