Cyberpunk 2077 on PC is still one of the most visually impressive games ever released, where its ray-tracing effects not only deliver stunning fidelity but push even the most powerful hardware to its limits. As part of the GeForce RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 reveal, NVIDIA unveiled a new Ray Tracing: Overdrive Mode update that takes things to the next level.
Which is bolstered by DLSS 3, the next version of the AI rendering tech that will be exclusive to the new GeForce RTX 40 Series (on account of it using new hardware). DLSS 3 allows Overdrive Mode to introduce NVIDIA RTX Direct Illumination (RTXDI), which "gives each neon sign, street lamp, car headlight, LED billboard and TV accurate ray-traced lighting and shadows, bathing objects, walls, passing cars and pedestrians in accurate colored lighting".
Check it out.
“Here at CD PROJEKT RED we are very proud to be technology innovators, and DLSS 3 gives us meaningful performance gains to tackle the addition of even higher levels of ray tracing to deliver a visually rich experience for our gamers,” Jakub Knapik, Art Director as CD PROJEKT RED said. In addition to the above all ray-traced indirect lighting and reflections bounce multiple times, compared to the previous version’s single bounce to deliver more accuracy. Ray-traced reflections will also render at full resolution, in addition to several other improvements coming.
The incredible part is that with DLSS 3 the game will do all of this at around 100 frames-per-second with the addition of NVIDIA Reflex to further reduce system latency.
