In an interview with Polish outlet Parkiet, CD Projekt Red investor relations manager Marek Bugdoł said that the upcoming Phantom Liberty expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 will be the developer's biggest expansion to date. Budget-wise.

It's worth clarifying that this is in relation to scope and budget, and not confirmation that its size and content offering would surpass The Witcher 3's excellent Blood and Wine expansion.

But we can hope, as Phantom Liberty introduces a new area of Night City to explore and new story content including performances from Idris Elba and Keanu Reeves (returning as Johnny Silverhand).

No doubt creating Cyberpunk 2077's cinematic visuals and impressive character is a lot more involved than what it took to develop The Witcher 3's expansions, but as Phantom will be the only bit of major story DLC that Cyberpunk 2077 will get we're hoping its a meaty tale and adds a lot more to do out in Night City.

From new side quests to making use of the countless building out in the world, there's a lot of potential here - and considering the current great state of the game, here's hoping CDPR goes all out.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty is headed to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S sometime in 2023.
