CD Projekt Red has finally showcased the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 running on console hardware - with an extended gameplay slice cutting between the game on both the Xbox One X and the brand-new Xbox Series X. It's worth noting though that the Series X footage, although smoother and more stable (the One X gameplay features some frame-rate hitches), is still technically running the Xbox One version of the game.
With the next-gen update coming sometime next year. On that note, compared to the gameplay seen so far running on NVIDIA GeForce RTX powered PC rigs, the console version is impressive but not in the same league. Not that it would be when you factor in the cost of a high-end PC and the added benefit of real-time ray-tracing and DLSS rendering.
In terms of immersion though, NPC density looks to be more sparse here compared to what we've seen so far, and the lack of ray-tracing and other high-end visual effects dampens the 'woah' factor. Still, it's new Cyberpunk 2077 gameplay and getting to see more action and dialogue and general exploration is awesome. And no matter the platform, Keanu Reeves is still breathtaking.
Bonus points for showing an Achievement getting unlocked when dispatching and enemy after they toss a grenade. Cyberpunk 2077 is on track for a December 10 launch across Xbox One, PS4, and PC - with PS5 and Xbox Series X and S compatibility.
