After acquiring the IP back in 2011, developer Crytek has been rather quite on the idea of a Homefront sequel to Kaos' original title, which was not the most well received game of the year. Today, Crytek and Deep Silver have stepped forward and announced Homefront: The Revolution, an open-world sequel to the 2011 title.
Homefront: The Revolution is an open-world first person shooter where you must lead the Resistance movement in guerrilla warfare against a superior military force. A living, breathing, open world responds to your actions - you and your Resistance Cell can inspire a rebellion on the streets and turn Occupation into Revolution, as oppressed civilians take up the fight.
But your enemy has the advantage - superior technology, firepower, heavy armour and air support. You must learn the art of guerrilla warfare – ambush, sabotage, infiltration, deception – and fight a running battle through the war-ravaged suburbs of Philadelphia. And the single player campaign is just the start – in Co-Op you and your friends can form your own Resistance Cell and become renowned as Heroes of the Revolution.
As explained in the story above, Crytek's UK studio will be taking a different approach to the Homefront IP by means of a more open-world setting powered by CryEngine visuals. Players will be able to learn various guerilla tactics to take down their enemies, and if you don't feel like going it alone Homefront: The Revolution will also offer online co-op with friends.
Check out the launch trailer below, and expect to see Homefront: The Revolution gameplay surface at E3 2014 next week. Homefront: The Revolution has been given a lofty 2015 date for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
funny how terrorism is suddenly ok when its America under occupation by a foreign power
also its nice that in times of said turbulent occupation, while on a terrorist mission, the guy in the trailer still found time to put on a nice tie. Personal appearance is important for good impressions.
