A few months back Microsoft opened up to the possibility of cross-network play between Xbox One and PC, even going so far as to mention that they'd like to do the same with Sony and the PS4. But before that happens, if at all, the first cross-platform game that lets Xbox One and PC players go at it has arrived. Well, is already here, as we're talking about Rocket League.

Cross-network play in Rocket League isn't all that new, the feature has been available on the PS4 version for quite some time. So, this is probably more of a "of course, yeah, sure" moment than actual ground-breaking news. Although it's interesting to note that in the announcement Microsoft made a note that since launching on Xbox One over 2 million players have been enjoying Rocket League on the console. Which, probably equates to sales. Even though that's something that Microsoft no longer reports on when it comes to Xbox.

The cross-network play on the Xbox One version of Rocket League can be toggled on or off via the matchmaking screen.
