One of the great features of the Xbox One console is its backwards compatibility, and ability to emulate the Xbox 360. With hundreds of titles supporting the program, Microsoft went a step further with the recent release of the Xbox One X. Where specific Xbox 360 titles would run in 4K, with improved texture filtering, and other effects. The results were nothing short of impressive. And today we can add a few more to the Xbox 360 meets Xbox One X Enhanced list.

Namely the Xbox 360 titles: The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, Forza Horizon, Fable Anniversary and Crackdown. Which brings the full list to:

  • Assassin’s Creed
  • Crackdown
  • Fable Anniversary
  • Fallout 3
  • Forza Horizon
  • Gears of War 3
  • Halo 3
  • Mirror’s Edge
  • Oblivion
  • Skate 3
  • The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings

The enhancements are all done by the console, without touching game code. Support is added on a game-by-game basis due to the fact that Microsoft want to ensure that the enhancements don't break the original look of the game. Also, not that you'd want to, but Microsoft have added an option in the Xbox 360 emulated dash to switch between enhanced and original visuals.

Fingers crossed Red Dead Redemption gets added to this list before the sequel drops. In the meantime I'll happily fire up Crackdown in 4K.
