In a surprise announcement 2K Games has revealed that Civilization VI will be making its way to the Nintendo Switch on November 16. Well, not so much revealed as its planned announcement for the recently cancelled Nintendo Direct event (after the tragedy in Japan), leaked ahead of time. Which means we don't have a trailer of Switch-specific images but confirmation that it will be the full PC version with additional content packs.
According to the press release which has since been taken down, the Nintendo Switch version of Civilization VI will include "the latest game updates and improvements" from the current PC release in addition to the Vikings pack, Poland, Australia, Persia, and Macedon add-on packs.
We reviewed the excellent Civilization VI: Rise and Fall expansion earlier in the year and found it to be one of the most fun Civ experiences we've had in years. Bringing the game to the Switch, outside of any technical challenges, sounds like a wonderful idea for the handheld-console hybrid. It'll be interesting to see how the controls will work, and if a PS4 or Xbox One version is also announced.
