SMITE, the third-person MOBA from developer Hi-Rez Studio, has hit the green light on its first World Championship event in Atlanta, Georgia, and for those not able to attend the high-adrenaline event in action you'll still have a chance to catch it all thanks to Twitch.
We'll have more on SMITE over the coming week, including a hands-on preview with the upcoming Xbox One version, however those wanting to catch the action can do so below. The livestream will be available throughout the weekend, offering up-to-the-minute matches plus various key events including cosplay competitions and in-depth looks into the game's expansive lore.
In related news, Hi-Rez has announced that your PC progress for SMITE will be carried over to the Xbox One version. Here's CEO of Hi-Rez Todd Harris answering the question:
The answer [to your question about having to repurchase content] may vary by territory. Within North America and Europe — the markets we self publish in — we are going to work with Microsoft to have some path for previous playtime and purchases to carry over on a one-time basis.
“Players can opt in on that. More details are to be determined, but they will not be starting from scratch.”
Alongside that announcement the team also unleashed a new trailer showcasing the game's new revamped Conquest Mode map, which is the main competitive mode for SMITE. The new map is expected to go into beta by the end of the this month, with an expected release later this year. Check it out below.
