In preparation for their launch in just under two days, Ubisoft and Techland have unveiled a new launch video that hopes to offer some advice for those looking to try out their latest Wild West title, Call of Juarez: Gunslinger.
From the dust of a gold mine to the dirt of a saloon, Call of Juarez® Gunslinger is a real homage to the Wild West tales. Live the epic and violent journey of a ruthless bounty hunter on the trail of the West’s most notorious outlaws. Blurring the lines between man and myth, this adventure made of memorable encounters unveils the untold truth behind some of the greatest legends of the Old West.
With a narrative emphasis on getting you prepared to take down anyone that crosses your path, the launch video also offers a lengthy glimpse at what to expect gameplay wise in Gunslinger. With a showcase of talent including the ability to slow down time or dodge deadly bullets, this is one video you may not want to miss out on.
Call of Juarez: Gunslinger will be available on May 23 for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
it's the most fun I've had playing a game for a long time
100%
Been playing this today and its GREAT! They have imitated the bastion style of story delivery (although it uses map triggers for narration - narrated by the character you play as he tells a story in a bar many years down the line) which works really well combined with the mythos of the wild west and the whole atmosphere the game generates. It does a bunch of other neat things which, MILD SPOILERS, play through an event from a couple different perspectives of the tale or as the character remembers a feature or more detail for how something played out.
My ONLY complaint is the dumb border that you see in screenshots because it cannot be disabled in game. (there is a workaround hack available atm but the game has a forced letterbox above and below the border that cannot be removed)
edit: Thinking about it, it reminds me a lot of movies like kiss kiss bang bang or even the princess bride, which is a cool effect to imitate in a game and something I cant remember many games having done.
