According to the Facebook status and the Call of Duty website, the next map pack for Call of Duty: Black Ops, Escalation, will be released first on Xbox Live on May 3, 2011. This comes rather quickly behind the recent release of the PC version of the map pack one, First Strike (http://www.callofduty.com/intel/453).

Escalation contains 5 maps, with 1 adding onto Zombie mode for singleplayer/multiplayer. The 5 new maps are Zoo, Hotel, Convoy, Stockpile and Call of the Deed for Zombies.

Here is a little summary from the website
"In Multiplayer, battle it out in "Hotel", on the roof of a Cuban luxury hotel and casino against the vivid backdrop of old Havana; "Convoy" delivers intense, close-quarters combat at the scene of an ambushed US military convoy; "Zoo" takes you on a wild ride in an abandoned Soviet Russian Zoo, with danger at every turn; "Stockpile" pits players in a remote Russian farm town housing secret WMD facilities.

For Zombies fans, "Escalation" features a unique Zombies experience. We can't wait to take the wraps off of our new Zombies map, Call of the Dead, a very special creation for all Zombies fans."
Additionally, to celebrate the upcoming release, there will be a Black Ops Double XP weekend beginning Friday, May 6th. promoted forum post

Supposedly Mos, and apparently BF3 won't put a release date until MW3 is announced, then they're doing it a week after their release.

lulz, laugh if MW3 pwns everything else when released.

also, It seems Treyarch are just following IW's dlc release model, albeit with more maps, therefore making it way better value for $$ than MW2's dlc.
Where was the whinging then?
I don't like the way CoD has gone but some ppl on this forum are just jumping on the f*****g bandwagon, I question whether some of you itt ever even tried Black Ops.

I actually run in a clan for Black Ops, and have found myself only jumping on every now and then for a few play rounds, or when the clan needs me. I have grown bored of it, but do commend Treyarch for a good COD, and have definitely gotten my monies worth. What you have to remember Enska is a lot of these users use to play older FPS's then COD4, so they have come to expect better quality from developers, and a right that they are entitled to, just like opinions. Some may feel DLC is cheapening titles, and making developers not try and make anything innovative and stick to a mold. Some people just don't like paying any extra to enjoy the game to it's fullest. Who knows, everyone is different.

I still love jumping on it for a hour or two for some games, don't realy care too much about "prestiging" any more, but it's a decent and enjoyable way to kill time.

I'm aware of that as I'm on of these people, but that's the biggest get off my lawn comment ever Eorl.
Times are changing, we all know DLC is here and it's staying and I really don't see how recent games are lacking in quality compared to older titles, your nostalgia glasses are fogging up.

Well, I don't mind DLC, when it actually adds more then 5 maps which take less then a few weeks with a few 3D modellers. What I miss is the day of expansions. Where content was huge, and even patches added features.

I miss them too, but short of falling into a black hole I can't really see a return to those days.
I actually read an interesting little column by the aus editor of game informer a few months back about this exact topic, but for the life of me I cant seem to find it on the web ><

It just seems like developers don't give two s**** about after-sale support or additions anymore, unless it makes them more money, or it's severely game breaking.

Meh i'll probably get it. My personal spending on games (and times spent playing them) has been cut down a lot. I'll count this as my half yearly game purchase.
