Upcoming yearly iteration Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare will be skipping the Wii U, developer Sledgehammer Games has announced.
Sledgehammer co-founder Michael Condrey said today that there won't be a Wii U version of the game, which he explained on
Twitter was "an Activision decision." The game was announced back in May for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions handled independently of Sledgehammer.
The news isn't a terrible surprise for Nintendo fans, with previous Call of Duty titles taking months to be officially confirmed. Last year's Ghosts wasn't confirmed until July, with Black Ops 2 waiting until September for its release date. The struggle even dates back to the Wii, where Modern Warfare 3 was announced in August 2011, months after the other versions had been revealed.
This follows a
report yesterday that Ubisoft will be ceasing production of "mature" games for the failing Nintendo console, with Watch Dogs being the last of their efforts.
