Bethesda have sent word letting us know that they'll be hosting a special public event at Brisbane's Mana Bar on Wednesday night, the day before the game's official Australian launch.
Brink is an immersive first-person shooter that blends single-player, co-op, and multiplayer gameplay into one seamless experience, allowing you to develop your character whether playing alone, with your friends, or against others online. You decide the combat role you want to assume in the world of Brink as you fight to save yourself and mankind’s last refuge. Brink offers a compelling mix of dynamic battlefields, extensive customisation options, and an innovative control system that will keep you coming back for more.

This 'open to the public' Brink event will be held on May 11 from 5pm at the Mana Bar, Brisbane in Fortitude Valley. For more information on the Mana Bar please visit www.manabar.com.au.
The North American release date for the game is earlier still (Tuesday May 10th) so they'll already be playing it over there from the comfort of their own homes there, but this is still a good opportunity for any Brisbane gamers that want to check this one out before fronting up any (regionally inflated) cash. They'll also have some goodies from Bethesda and Turtle Beach to give away there.

Brink is due in Australia on May 12th 2011 for PC, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Going with few mates after uni, should be fun. If you see a guy in a Atticus shirt, that'd be me.

If you see any staff there from bethesda, be sure to give them s*** about the price on steam.

Still undecided on this one. Looks good and some new concepts for multiplayer but unsure if they will actually pull it off. Hope they do because i need a new team based shooter.

You can fit all of 5 people in the mana bar.

Will probably buy the game if the online cdkey stores sell it. I don't pay retail anymore.

Hmmm. Can anyone link me up on some honest to goodness cd key sites? I'm weary of them, as they always look fishy.

* DirectGameKeys (I've bought quite a few games from them, received cdkey within 12 hours). There's a coupon code (TLOW) that gives a further 10% discount at check-out.

* CDKeys.com.au. Bought a few copies of L4D2 uncensored from them without issues. They are also selling Portal 2 for $38.

No sign of Brink yet but given its predicted popularity I suspect it won't be long.

Mmm, well I've got a pre-order for Ozgameshop, but if I can get it earlier then what I expect to be a week for delivery, then I might as well. But seems I'll have to wait for original order.

Can someone explain to me whats so exciting about Brink? Like give me the 30 second elevator pitch for it? Cos I don't get it, it doesn't look interesting to me at all yet there seems to be all this hype and excitement for it. Out of all the great games coming out this year, its not even a blip on my radar, I just don't get what makes it so good :(

Yeah I'm not exactly super excited about it either. Waiting for some honest reviews of the MP. Just need a game to keep me going until BF3.

Only thing tempting me is that it is currently £29.99 on steam which goes up after release. Still not doing it though.

So when you have a key, where do you guys get an actual copy of the game from?

You enter the key into steam and it lets you download the entire game. Also works for EA's and Ubisoft's crappy vesions of steam. Some keys require the game files 1st (but these are pretty rare as most are now online activated thru steam/EA/ubisoft).

I have used the 3 sites already mentioned and recommend them and also the following:

I imagine most of the people amped for it at fans of Wolf ET or ET Quake Wars, as Brink is the next evolution of those games.

It's aimed at multiplayer shooter fans that are bored of Call of Duty, Battlefield and Team Fortress 2.

It's also one of the only non-realistic twitch shooters -- geared for competitive multiplayer -- that has been on the horizon for a rather long time.

They're also one of the very few developers that seem to be doing PC dedicated servers correctly, so I really want to hope that the game itself doesn't suck.

I also like their approach to sound development for the game. It is built from the ground up and has been integrated into the game very early on as opposed to being tacked on, if that makes sense.

Yeah, Dan posted a cool article a while back about the sound design, and it's been thought out really well.

I'm an ET Quake Wars die hard which is probably why I'm so pumped for it, and because the developer is doing all the right things imo. yeah, massive bias :P

I picked it up from GAME UK for 30 pounds (roughly $45 aud), only downside is it's coming out at around 9am on the 13th. Not that big a delay considering the price, (the super cheap cd-key websites I saw it's like 5 days late) so look it up if you're still wanting the game for a reasonable price.

Can't wait to frag you all in-game :D

Never got into Quake Wars as I was busy with other adventures but I was pretty hugely into Wolf ET. Thsi game looks very promising and I'll be very interested to see how the competitive play goes.

It's been quite a long time since I played a competitive FPS onlne (public servers dont count) so I imagine I'll be getting slawed for a bit before I can get back into it. Should ne fun.

Elevator pitch:

Brink is mirrors edge cross team fortress 2, with emphasis on team work. You have parkour style movement for getting around, with either a automatic button, or going manual. Customisation is extremely high, with up to 1000 or more combinations. Graphics are nice, full dedicated servers and overall something to keep people happy until BF3 at least.
