As the most high profile Epic Games Store exclusive to date, the upcoming PC release of Borderlands 3 won't have that feature that digital storefronts tend to implement so players can jump straight in day one, minute one. Pre-loading. Yeah, turns out that in order to play Borderlands 3 on PC you won't be able to download the game until after it has been released.

Which of course is a feature that would have been included had the game also released on Steam. What's confusing is that pre-loading is listed as an Epic Games Store feature. When prompted Epic's Tim Sweeney responded on Twitter - noting that it was "complicated".

In terms of server capacity Tim Sweeney notes that during Fortnite events where millions of people are playing and updating their game, Epic is able to handle things fine. Meaning that although you won't be able to pre-load Borderlands 3 prior to launch - downloading should still be relatively fast.

Borderlands 3 is out September 13.
