As PAX Australia enters its last day of showing off a huge amount of indie titles and gaming championships, Gearbox Software revealed early yesterday during their Q&A panel that their loot-filled FPS RPG Borderlands 2 will be gaining a new DLC pack later this year.
According to the
Official Xbox Magazine, the new DLC will be titled "Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2" and will feature an increase to the level cap, putting the game at a max level of 72. The pack also contains the "Digistruct Peak Challenge" which will see the Vault Hunters teaming up with Professor Tannis to train prospective Crimson Raiders after the events of the main story.
Alongside the new DLC announcement, Gearbox's head figure Randy Pitchford also revealed what he hopes to be the beginning of a new set of add-ons for the game, collectively called the "Headhunter Packs".
The first of these will be entitled T.K. Baha's Bloody Harvest, and will feature a reprise of Borderlands 1 character T.K. Baha, only a little more undead than usual. There's no word on whether this or subsequent instalments will be comparable in length to the DLC from the first season, but Pitchford has said Gearbox hope to make "two or three" of the Headhunter Packs in total.
Sadly these new pieces of DLC will not be included in the Season Pass, which recently ended with the fourth and final DLC - Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragonkeep. Currently pricing of the "Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack 2" is around $5, however it hasn't been completely confirmed yet. There is no date yet on when these DLC packs will be available, though Pitchford did mention that they could land in Halloween by the very least.
