Blizzard Trademarks "The Dark Below" Ahead of Gamescom Announcement

Let the rampant speculation begin: Blizzard has filed a trademark for "The Dark Below" just one week ahead of an announcement scheduled to take place at this year's Gamescom (where AusGamers will be attending).

Nothing beyond the trademark application and impending announcement are known at this point in time, but we're going to put our money on this being related to the first official expansion for Diablo III. If it weren't so transparently Diablo-related though, what would you like to become of this trademark and announcement from Blizzard?

Compared to other names the Diablo series expansions have shared this one seems... Kinda corny.

I honestly don't know what I would like to see from a Diablo expansion I really haven't had any drive to continue playing it past normal difficulty, it just felt like an Action RPG WoW clone.

i wish i could muster the motivation to give d3 another go

unfortunately big hyped games are like that, you blue ball for them to come out and they get dropped pretty quickly if they don't live up to the hype / name in this instance

I simply can't stop playing D3. I'm only paragon 16 but I have every intention to hit 100. Everyone is entitled to their opinion but for me, this is one of my all time favourite games. I cannot wait for news re this expac if it is at all, for D3.Bring it!!

I have to email blizzard to get approval showing my account is mine before I can even log in. By the time that's all done I would have lost interest again.

Funny isn't it. People can't help but state how much they hate the game, however you all show enough interest to come into discussion about the very game you despise and can it. Makes very little sense to me.

We came here to make a comment about the game, you came here to troll about us commenting.

I can't remember anyone complaining, I played the game once but I have no desire to continue playing it, it's the same stuff over and over again to me, I moved onto another game with a new story to play.

I came here to support and comment positively about the potential D3 announcement. You came here to make an announcement that you've moved onto another game because Diablo 3 doesn't do it for you and you think the title is corny. As I said, I respect you opinion but my point is why bother coming to comment on a game you have no interest for in the first place. It would be nice to read supportive posts that's all.

it should bet he next WoW expansion, its kinda due early next year and there has been no word, I remember people speculating about the Nerubians of the Spider Kingdom or Azjol Empire, Azjol-Nerub being the focus of the next expansion their whole world is UNDER-GROUND of Azeroth: http://www.wowwiki.com/Azjol-Nerub so I can see "The Dark Below" being a suitable title.

But then there is D3 and its getting/is stale, but I'm not sure they would force out an expansion so close to releasing on consoles the vanilla version.

Interesting read too here http://www.mmo-champion.com/threads/814949-Spider-Kingdom-fan-expansion-concept. Some people even think its an Azshara expansion involving Nagas.

probably because i was so f*****g hyped for D3 it was not even funny and i pre-ordered a collectors edition and everything

for it to turn out to be a f*****g failure and require a year+ of updates to fix it up

Fair call then paveway. I genuinely wish you could enjoy it as I do. I'm getting hundreds of hours out of it and I'm far from finished. Lets hope an expac fixes some issues and brings you back mate.

Looks like the D3 expansion is called "Reaper of Souls" so this is looking more like the name of the next WoW expansion.

I'm going with the theory that the next WoW expansion is gonna be an underwater Azshara one, cos remember that giant octopus thing that kidnapped Netpulon in Throne of Tides in cata? It was called Ozumat, Fiend of the Dark Below. Also, title could kind of refer to the old god thats living underwater too, N'Zoth or whatever his name is.

Bit disappointing if true though, I was all hyped for burning legion :(

I lost interest playing D3 by Act 3, fixing the catapults or something, the story is not at all compelling - especially compared to D1 and D2. The combat is fun, but without an engaging story to make all the hacking worthwhile, it's just a bit boring.

Ah I gotcha. Its going to be really interesting see what Blizzard do with WoW in the next few years, what with all these actual next-gen MMOs coming out very soon.

As long as it's not another underwater zone like Vashj'ir then I'm all up for it. Maybe it might cover the South Seas a bit as well plus it would suck if it was burning legion again. They should leave them until the final xpac when Sargeras turns up if he ever does.

Thats why this forum has existed for over a decade because all views have a place here. These threads arent ment for only the rabid fanbois but for the entire community to yack about good bad or otherwise. Here is a quick tip for you, if you dont like people ragging on games your on the wrong forum. Youd probably be more at home on the GA forums where they have forums dedicated to specific games......oh wait hmmm

Bottom line is games regularly get trashed here and quite frankly the negative banter is as valuable as the positive.

If it's Reaper Of Souls with references to the book of Tyrael them im thinking another high heavens act, with Imperius as the villain. Makes sense, lot of the early trailers had that kind of content which never made the game, resulting in a mediocre act 4.

We probably jumped on the bandwagon a little early and I spent the past 24H double checking stuff since it was basically everywhere, I guess today is just not the day. Sorry guys, going to call the whole The Dark Below thing a hoax.
