Last week wasn't all that great for Ubisoft, Skull and Bones got delayed for a sixth time and the publisher confirmed that it had canceled three unannounced games as it looked to refocus amid financial challenges. And with the still mysterious Beyond Good and Evil 2 being in development since before its 2016 re-reveal, it looks like it's still coming.
And that's re-reveal in the sense that the sequel was first announced over 15 years ago before going through a number of on and off-again development cycles.
"Beyond Good and Evil 2's development is underway and the team is hard at work to deliver on its ambitious promise," a Ubisoft spokesperson told Eurogamer. That said it's a game we haven't seen in action for a while. Back at E3 2018 we were impressed by its "massive open-world space" and visuals, even though it still felt "early in development".
Here's hoping we get a new look at the project sometime soon. There's no word on the state or progress of development, so it could be pretty far along or nowhere near finished.
As of now, Beyond Good and Evil 2 is still coming. And if nothing else, it's great to see Ubisoft still describing the project as "ambitious".
Here's the last meaty slice of gameplay from 2021.
