When it comes to the question of 'will it go free-to-play' it's something that always crops up in relation to any online multiplayer title - especially one with microtransactions. With the controversy surrounding the launch of Fallout 76, in that it wasn't quite ready for prime-time, naturally the question slowly turned into an unsubstantiated rumour.

With the following response outright squashing it before we began to see headlines to the effect of 'Is Fallout 76 Going Free-to-Play' cropping up everywhere.

The response came from the official Bethesda Twitter account and is pretty clear cut. Heading into 2019 Fallout 76 faces a rather steep uphill battle to win back the goodwill of Fallout fans from across the globe. Not only does it still need the sort of fixes that will alleviate bugs and glitches, but fundamental changes to a lot of the mechanics. In addition to a Megaton of new content. So far Bethesda has been quiet on this front, teasing a revamped PvP mode and the opening of Vaults. Here's hoping we get a detailed roadmap sometime in the near future.
