DICE has sent word that their destruction-heavy FPS Battlefield 4 has now been updated with the first DLC pack, China Rising, adding in four new maps for players to go and fight it out for victory.
The China Rising pack includes four maps: Silk Road, with giant sand dunes; Altai Range, land and air battle for control of the mountains; Guilin Peaks, focused on close-quarter fighting in caves; and Dragon Pass, a reimagining of Battlefield 2's Dragon Valley map. The pack will be available for non-Premium members on December 17 for $14.99.
Sadly the news isn't all that positive, with DICE revealing earlier this morning that PlayStation 4 users anticipating the stability patch promised last week has now been delayed. "The PS4 game update that was originally meant to go live Dec 3 is undergoing some additional testing and will be rescheduled for a later date." DICE says. "We will get back with final details as soon as we have verification that the update is good to go."
The delayed patch is designed to eliminate a few problems, including unintended one-hit kills, missing sound on video capture, and crashes due to having too many friends. No further news has been provided on any other fixes in the works though hopefully we'll see more on the situation soon.
Sadly since its launch back at the end of October, Battlefield 4 has still been experiencing a number of issues plaguing all platforms, including some major server issues for PC. DICE are aware of the issues though so hopefully we'll see some more patches to fix the ongoing concerns sooner rather than later.
Yeah same here 29gb download and then went to 850mb and dlc update, well I was going to say all my issues are fixed I played 4 rounds with no crashes, but as I write this it locked up in a map change
Wow the quality of the maps has dropped a lot in this DLC. They definitely are sub BF3 quality. A couple of the maps like the desert one and the mountain one have reminiscent elements to a couple of BF3 DLC maps. Except they look way less detailed with way less atmosphere.
The more jungle maps which are reminiscent of BC2:Vietnam maps arguably look about that quality if not worse.
Yes it's the newer engine so there's better stuff going on, but the detail in the environment and a lot of little touches make them kind of sub par. Not up to the same level.
The ones that look like the BF3 maps though, there's no doubt they don't look as good. So not sure what has happened here. The drop of quality and polish to the maps is really distracting. Even the lighting is really bad. They also lack levolution, which I am generally fine with, but with the substandard quality of the graphics and detail. It just looks like they were rushed out and DICE is skimping on the time spent on the DLC.
Where as with BF3, arguably the game looked better and better with all DLC. This really is somewhere from BC2 part way to BF3 level. But not that good. Also with less attention to environment atmosphere and detail than BC2.
I played last night for about 2 hours and didn't crash once. Loving the new maps...they have a bit of a BF2 feel to them. I think I prefer them over the original maps.
It mightn't be the same file causing your issue, but you could try renaming the half downloaded folder and starting again to remove any chance of corrupted files.
This premium member for BF is bulls***, it totaly fragments the players and is money grubbing at best.
You get four expansions though, I remember spending alot more with BF2 and all it's expansions at the time, at least this I can spend another $60 and get them all included .
