Warner Bros. has confirmed that the Wii U will no longer be receiving support for future DLC releases of last year's Batman: Arkham Origins, according to an email surfacing online from Nintendo of America (via AllGamesBeta).

"Based on demand for Downloadable Content on the system, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has made the decision to remove its offering of the upcoming new story campaign for Wii U," the email states. Those who have purchased the Season Pass will also be receiving full refunds of the paid price, with the refund going directly into your eShop account.

The email also notes that any previously released content will still be available to play. Up until today it was still unknown exactly how Warner Bros. were going to handle DLC on the Wii U, with VG247 pointing out that "announcements failed to mention a Wii U release for DLC as early as June 2013."

The Wii U console has been a hot topic in the past few days, with Nintendo's recent quarter financial report yesterday revealing that the home hardware had only moved 1.95 million units, compared to the new-gen PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles, which saw over 4 million and 3 million respectively.

While Nintendo president Satoru Iwata did reveal during the conference briefing yesterday that the company are looking to restructure and reinvigorate their home console lineup (and handheld branch), it is starting to look like the company that brought about the Game Boy and Nintendo Entertainment System are struggling to keep up with its HD twins.
