Warner Bros. Interactive released box art for Batman: Arkham City this week, which has a massive Games For Windows Live banner across the top for PC, meaning the desktop version of the game will support Microsoft's clunky PC gaming platform.

A quick peak on the Steam Store saw no mention of pre-orders for the game on Valve's more superior platform, though Arkham Asylum Game of the Year Edition is more than available on there for purchase now, and obviously this is retail vs digital distribution.

Here's hoping it's not locked into some kind of Microsoft GFWL exclusivity dealie, but we'll likely have to wait until closer to the game's October 21 release for more information on this.

Click here for a glimpse at the box art.

First game indeed had GFWL, however I was able to use an offline account due to not being able to connect. Pretty pissy that if I ever do get GFWL to work, I won't be able to transfer my GTA4/Batman saves either. F*** it's a bad platform all round for me.

edit: This is what I get for giving up pirating. :/

The first game was the first time I had dealt with GFWL. It was the worst game install I have ever encountered. I first had to download the GFWL client. Then had to creat a GFWL account. Then enter a cd-key, then it forced me to download a GFWL client patch, then a game patch, followed by entering the cd-key in game yet again. I was not impressed. Considering with any steamworks title you can just run the game as soon as it's available, no cd-keys, no crappy 3rd part software installs, no client and game patches during login with a game... I'm not at all impressed with this news.

Same. I even used a torrent version to try, then bought a key and went from there without troubles.
