For those of you looking for something to do this weekend and live nearby, Ballarat Mining Exchange will be hosting the Ballarat Get Into Games expo, an annual event which features a range of competitions and advice focused around gaming.
Ballarat GiG is an annual event designed to highlight the viable and fun careers available in the technology industry using the glitz and glamour of the latest video games. Game Developers' Association of Australia CEO Antony Reed will give attendees the inside word on the games industry, educators will be on hand from the University of Ballarat to talk about avenues into game development and a National Broadband Network Q&A session by Telstra Country Wide will look at the growing potential of digital careers in regional areas.
Included in the free entry will be the chance to compete in several competitions ranging from Fragfest to virtual racing, plus 40 Xbox's that will be available for play. The expo will also feature local Australian game industry developers looking to show off their demos and also talk about job opportunities.

The Ballarat Get Into Games expo will be running on Saturday 4th August and entry is free. Check out the official website for a list of competitions, program and demos.
