I saw a tonne of stuff out at Gamescom this year, and while I'm technically still in transit (hanging out in the Qantas lounge in Singapore), here's one part of our roll out of coverage -- a hands-on update for The Elder Scrolls Online.

With the game now out in public beta hands, this might not wind up being a definitive write-up, but as far as an observation of where the game was when it was shown at E3 to now, it's a wrap of all the things the team are getting right. Pacing, combat (in first-person), leveling, emergent gameplay and visuals are all just a few of things on the Zenimax Online Studios hitlist, and if they can maintain the workload and development progression, we're going to have one solid hit on our hands.

Check out our Elder Scrolls Online preview for the full story.
