Right, so you might recall that Bethesda kind of gave up on bringing mods to the PlayStation 4 version of Fallout 4. And in a statement, hinted that the problem was on Sony's end. To many fans this left a bad taste in their mouth. Had Sony forgot about gamers? The answer is, of course not. And today Bethesda has announced that Skyrim Special Edition will launch on PlayStation 4 with mod support*. But, with the added bonus of an asterisk. Did you see it there?

Yeah, so the mods for the PlayStation 4 version of Skyrim Special Edition and Fallout 4 will be limited to mods that only use assets that come with the game. Meaning no external assets like textures, models, sounds, or music. Which kind of sounds like the issues that Bethesda were having in the first place. In the end though even without external assets it's great to see that the two companies have patched things up. Even if that means no Macho Man Deathclaws or Dragons.

Also in Bethesda and Sony news, both Skyrim Special Edition and Fallout 4 will support the upcoming PlayStation 4 Pro. With Skyrim rendering in native 4K on the console at launch.
