Aussie eSports outfit Plantronics.Mindfreak not only placed 6th in the Call of Duty World Championships over the weekend, they were the only non-US team to break into the top 10.
The four lads walk away with a USD$50,000 purse between them, but can be proud they broke into the heavily US-dominated top 10 -- no other teams from around the world pulled this off.
"The team are so happy we placed 6th in Los Angeles," said Mitchell Mader, Team Captain of Plantronics.Mindfreak. via press release. "We worked really hard to prepare for the finals, knowing we would face some tough competition. Hopefully we showed the global Call of Duty eSports scene that the Aussies are serious competitors. We’ll keep practicing hard and hope that we get the opportunity to return next year.”
