25 years of history for a developer and publisher in this industry is quite a long time. Especially when you take into consideration that at that time in the early 1990s gaming in general was relatively small and still quite young. That being said, in the past 25 years there probably hasn't been another developer that has made quite the same impact on the industry that Blizzard has, from creating games on the Super Nintendo through to crafting the online phenomenon known as World of Warcraft.
This year's BlizzCon was a bit of a planetary alignment of anniversaries with the 25th anniversary of Blizzard, the 20th anniversary of Diablo, and the 10th anniversary of BlizzCon itself all converging into a two day celebration.
Here's the great little video that opened the show.
And yes, when we the number 4 on the die showed up we kind of braced ourselves for an imminent Diablo 4 announcement. But seeing as that didn't come, and with Diablo 3 still having a lot of life left, we'll just assume that it's Blizzard being Blizzard and they're cryptically hinting towards an announcement next year. Or the year after that.
