As of today, AusGamers content is no longer unmetered for BigPond customers. We enjoyed providing Telstra / BigPond customers unmetered access to our massive library of files and videos but the decision is beyond our control.

You can discuss this with us in the comments, and if you'd like to provide feedback to Telstra about this change, you can use their CrowdSupport system here.

Hahaha, Telstra.

Get the f*** onto http://www.exetel.com.au/ no more quotas. No naked, but cheap as chips anyway and no more f*****g quotas.

The people caught by this are the ones who have no access to wired internet and rely on fixed 3G or 4G wireless devices. Those plans have far lower data caps.

Well this is f*****g bulls***. Since this was the last unmetered gaming related service to be taken, I'm assuming Telstra are doing a 'vidya gaems r evil' stance

Lots of bad things i am hearing from extel on the whirlpool forums.... no thanks. Go with iiNet or Internode and get all Steam servers, xbox servers and everything on games.on.net all unmetered ftw. Also FetchTV, radio.internode.on.net as well :)

Yeah I can really only see this being a problem for 3g/4g customers.... which is probably the motivation behind this, would be costing them a fortune to supply 4g people with unmetered data here.

Why would you bother going with any service that has a download limit, I couldn't think of anything worse than worrying if I was getting close to my cap.

Mass: lots of people aren't able to get anything other than wireless broadband, and they don't have much in the way of choices.

Yes, this decision is BS, but was there anything worth it IN the file library that was needed quota free? most games are steam/origin/uplay etc etc and handle their own patching. Annoyed, not a big loss though.

Well when the option is no internet vs capped internet, the choice is pretty clear. Ignoring this though, Telstra/Bigpond having no free gaming related content servers is just a f*****g terrible heart break. They are the largest internet and phone provider in the country and they just got rid of awesome service.

Admittedly the way we grab files has changed over the years, maybe hosting content is no longer really worth time/effort/cost. But with no alternatives it's still a damn shame.

Because I can get telstra cable, or dialup. I'm not renting and I'm not about to spend $500,000 on another house just for a different ISP.

Lolz what country is Mass from? The majority of Australian ISP internet options have download limits. This isn't the limit-free USA.

I was once stuck on 4G and it sucked, install a game get the patches go over you're limit and then you're Internets were slowed to the point of being unusable until the next months cycle.
Not any more, i have unlimited i am free i feel born again, i can't fathom why Telstra won't go naked having data limits is bizarre someone might pay $!00 for a 100 gig then next pays $200 for 400 gig you would have to be a retard to pay like that when you can get unlimited for $80 \mth.

I live in the USA, and my cable connection has a limit - I think it's 350GB. Many consumer level services do. It's just high enough that the vast majority of users don't exceed it. I never get close to the limit.

Holding up the USA as the best Internets in the world is wrong - South Korea or the Netherlands or Sweden are much better examples.

Except Telstra is one of the few providers that offer 120 mbps cable connections... that you know, you actually get the speed on.

Agree. When working in Winnimucca Nevada the whole towns outside internet pipe was 1.5mbps to be shared amongst 14,000 people. This was circa 2011.

Best internet I've experienced was in Seoul. I was setting up a new office and on the day I asked if the internet was ready - my Korean counterpart said he hadn't ordered it.

Being used to service delivery in Australia, I nearly lost my s*** as I was only there for a few days not 4-6 weeks. I asked if he could get onto it and what the ETA was for installation, he came back and said it'd be installed that afternoon. Sure enough, a tech comes out in the afternoon, installs it and we had a 100Mb service up and running in a few hours. This was in 2007.

I just found this :(

Being a household restricted to 4g wireless this just destroyed all gaming for us. Might as will switch back to dialup.
