Technically, the countdown we've already been doing remains the same, and so the Top 3 Countdown in our AusGamers Top 10 Games of 2021 list doesn't change, but it's worth highlighting the top three regardless, and separating these was actually pretty difficult. So we didn't take judging them lightly, and we hope that's reflected in what we have to say about each, alongside their overall place in the list.

That said, we need to remind you that Monday's post is our Honourable Mentions list, which is the 10 games that didn't make the final, so in considering how the top three landed, that list is also important because there were a lot of games that were unlucky to miss.

At any rate, coming in at Number Three, Schafer and co.'s long-in-the-development-tooth (heh) Psychonauts 2 honestly had dibs on any one of these three positions, but found its way in third. Which is still no slouch of a posi, we should add, and speaks to the strength of the whole list as it stands in finality.
